Was born on January 3, 1950 in Amsterdam- Noord.

At a very young age and proved his exceptional musical talent at age six, he took his first organ lessons from Jan Pasveer. Around nine years he played his first church and thirteentage he gave his first organ recital.

Meanwhile, he was organist and shortly there after to Zunderdorp Zuiderwoude in Broek in Waterland, where even a pipe organ would be purchased as an organist he wanted to stay.

Indeed there was a large harmonium .


Subsequent teachers were Ger van Poppel , Rutger Mazijk and Piet van Egmond .


Meanwhile, he accompanied the Men ao Amsterdam North conducted the famous conductor Jan van de Waart. He was tutor in various choirs and Amsterdam marker Girl Choir. Sickness of a conductor on Easter morning in Amsterdam (1966) he was asked to conduct impromptu a large choir, which he had never done. He went through this with ease. This action was the beginning of his career as a conductor at the age of sixteen .

After testing in the Western Church Organist Simon C. Jansen and Han High Forest of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam showed Carel Schulz indeed very musically gifted. Schulz mother was a teacher.This brought him into contact with very young and he was teaching a 18- year-old boy in the classroom music teacher . As soon as he formed a high school choir that in many churches in Amsterdam with great success occurred .

During his studies at the Music Lyceum in Amsterdam , he moved to Utrecht to complete his training to pursue . At that time he was organist in the great church, Muiden, but quickly became organist incident in the Reformed Church in Utrecht Tuindorp. Carel studied organ with cathedral organist of Viegen Stoffel, including choral and orchestral conducting with Otto Hanburg. During his studies he gave many organ and choral concerts . By various organ cases he was asked to give demonstration concerts sometimes with Harold Smart, organist BBC in London.

 

Recording

In1976 he made his first choral album called " Christmas Song of the Rhine "where a few thousand were sold.

Combined with the famous choir " The Rhine corn " and made many albums . Another combination was the " Israeli choirs Care List " with whom he has recorded several CDs. Carels organ LPs and CDs are made in such Kampen, Zutphen, Amsterdam,

Zwolle, Vught, etc.

 

Radio and TV

The Radio and TV concerts were not. Meanwhile, he was appointed organist of the Oosterkerk Utrecht. The education continued to attract him and so he taught in Amsterdam, Bodegraven, IJsselstein, Utrecht, Nieuwegein, Vianen and Geldermalsen. He has about 13 years served as a high school music teacher. With a symphony orchestra Frysk he gave several concerts, including the overture of 1812 Tjaikovsky, Tarras Bulba of Jannacek and 3e Symphony Saint Seans.

 

Choir
Carel conducted choirs in Tiel, Bodegraven, Zwammerdam, Woerden, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Culemborg, OOsterbeek, Urk, Vianen en Ijselstein.Currently he directs the choir Reformed the Chr.Avg.Hosannakoor in Gouda.

 

In 1980 just before the demoliotion of the Oosterkerk Utrecht, Carel was appointed of the Jerusalem church in Amsterdam were he has now been around for over 25 years now working. It is Three manuals organ with 42 votes, previously played by his old mentor Piet van Egmond.
Various concert tours have been made to Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece and Canada.In 1984, Carel and his then-male choir was inveted by UNICEF in Rome to a "concert for the world" to work with. This concert was broadcost in 52 countries and Carel received before the highist distinction conferred UNICEF.

Choral works to his concerts always known organists, pianists and orchestras along.

Works bij Bach and Handel and the famous Gloria by Vivaldi performed with in clude the Utrecht University Symphony Orchestra.
Along with singing evenings Carel Chr.Schulz on the organ in the country enjoy a great interrest. Various music is wtitten bij Carel Schulz publissed is his organ improvisatieon and enjoy a natioanal reputation.
